Know the Enemy – Liberals vs Progressives & Leftists
It is important , as conservatives, to identify the enemy of conservatism. I don’t think the de facto enemy is liberalism as a good American liberal believes in many of the same things as a good conservative; family, country, faith, and personal responsibility. We may, however, disagree on how to achieve policy that promotes those ends.
For most of the 20th-century conservatives and liberals did not disagree on defense, economic policy to promote jobs, protection of family and faith. What has changed is globalization and the advancement of progressivism. Progressives believe, like Soros, that “One World” would or should be without borders and that nationalism is passe’. Also, that government should control and be responsible for people”s economic outcomes and that family and faith are relics of an earlier tribal period.
Progressives have taken over a major part of the liberal agenda and in turn a major part of the Democratic platform even though many rank and file Democrats feel left behind and somewhat alienated. The conservative wing of the Republican Party likewise feels betrayed by the “New World Order” that promotes global corporate power, larger government and the unchecked persecution home and abroad of faith and family.
The Progressives movement in America began in earnest with the likes of John Dewey (1859-1952) in redefining education, and Margaret Sanger (1879-1966) in controlling population. Both were tireless reformers that forever changed the social fabric of America. The former with his “Progressive Education for Social Change” to educate the mind and heart of society and the latter for initially advocating selective termination of pregnancies and sterilization of undesirable elements in society (specifically African-Americans). Both were idealist bordering on utopian.
The Neo-progressives are a natural outgrowth of the need to carry the healing of their vision of society to a global level. Wealth is unfair, natural economic and intellectual resources are unequally distributed and need to be redistributed on the basis of fairness. Only the government can do this and it is up to the progressives to make it happen.
A few examples of “Only We Know How To Fix The World”;
- Open Borders so that people can freely migrate from one place to another to better their situation.Sounds good but of course, it eliminates the nation-state and ultimately lowers the economic standard of the United States or any other country that accepts unrestricted numbers of uneducated immigrants.
- A Carbon Tax that is a fairly transparent method of transferring wealth by taxation form a successful industrial nation to a less successful agricultural country. Under the guise of saving the environment, this movement aims to fairly redistribute wealth worldwide.
- Larger global governments require infinitely more rules and regulations to control all aspects of the populations’ lives. Of course primary among the controls is arms control and national identification cards.
Moreover, conservatives need to focus on progressives and globalist in their long battle to bring sense to the senseless world and to understand the enemy and how to defeat it. As part of that struggle, they must identify those liberals that have yet to be converted to Progressives and still share their belief in faith, family, and country and embrace them and work together to restore American Values.
Those traits described above apply to most of the modern politicians and high on the list, of course, are progressive Presidents starting with Wilson and include G H & W Bush, Barack Obama, Bill Clinton and maybe Hillary Clinton. Only Reagan stands out as an icon of national sovereignty and common sense. likewise, only Alioto and Thomas stand out as members of the SCOTUS.
As a result of appointments, Progressives rule the courts and the ability to appoint justices on all the federal benches must be the fundamental aim of stemming the progressive tsunami. Ms. Clinton agrees with the current President on issues of immigration and judicial activism and must not get the opportunity to make any judicial appointments.
An imperfect Trump will make reasonable appointments if advised by knowledgeable conservatives.
Know the enemy, focus on the outcome.
